RRCC VISTA Member Awarded Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award

RRCC VISTA member Rebecca Dossey received the Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award during a ceremony at Mission Norman on August 19

Rebecca Dossey, a Moore resident and Red River Community Corps (RRCC) VISTA member, was recognized with the prestigious Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award by Norman Mayor Larry Heikkila. This honor celebrates outstanding volunteers and recognizes the positive impact they make in their local communities.

The Presidential Lifetime Achievement Award, led by AmeriCorps and Points of Light, is a tradition upheld by every administration since 2003. The distinction honors volunteers who have dedicated over 4,000 hours of service, highlighting their exceptional efforts in tackling our nation's toughest challenges.

"It’s an honor to receive an award that has been given to many individuals I deeply admire," Dossey said. "I am fortunate that my work with Red River Community Corps allows me to follow my passion for helping others and improving the Norman community.”

Anthony Coby, RRCC executive director, said members like Rebecca play a major role in driving positive change in Oklahoma communities.

"Rebecca's commitment to community development, fundraising and expanding capacity is inspiring," Coby said. “This award stands as a powerful testament to her unwavering commitment and contributions to Mission Norman.”
