AmeriCorps State Program Openings

The following are AmeriCorps State Program openings.  AmeriCorps State Members in these programs serve full- or half-time terms at community partners across the state.  Member receive a living allowance during service and may be eligible for other in-service benefits depending on their term.  Upon completion of their term Members may be eligible to receive a Education Award to help pay qualifying education expenses or student loans.  Members must complete a minimum service hour requirements in order to receive post-service benefits.

Red River AmeriCorps VISTA Program Openings

The following are national service opportunities working with partner agency sites as partners of the Red River Community Corps' AmeriCorps VISTA program. AmeriCorps VISTA is a full time, 12-month commitment to alleviate poverty. VISTA Members will receive a small living allowance and benefits during service. VISTA Volunteer Coordinator - YMCA of tulsa, tulsa

YWCA Tulsa works to break cycles of poverty by addressing issues of racial and gender disparities in wellness, wealth and education. The VISTA Volunteer Coordinator will increase the capacity of YWCA Tulsa to increase opportunities for women, minorities and other individuals by helping to build a volunteer management and engagement program. The program will include opportunities for engaging volunteers as mentors for minority youth and engaging current clients and identifying opportunities across all programs for better volunteer engagement. VISTA On-Line Learning Coordinator - Center For Nonprofits - oklahoma city

The Oklahoma Center for Nonprofits (OKCNP) works to build  better communities by improving the effectiveness of local nonprofits, many of whom are working to break down barriers to moving out of poverty such as addressing homelessness, low literacy/education attainment and access to healthcare in communities across Oklahoma. The VISTA Online Learning Coordinator will increase OKCNP’s capacity to offer free and low-cost training resources to rural Oklahoma nonprofits by assessing the needs of rural communities and developing new and existing training to an online/on-demand learning platform; enabling them to invest more into serving the needs of low-income and rural communities.  View the full Volunteer Assignment Description here.

VISTA Resource Development Coordinator at camp fire green country (cfgc) -tulsa

Purpose and Impact:

This position will assist Camp Fire Green Country (CFGC) in Tulsa, Oklahoma to expand the small group mentoring, out-of-time activities and outdoor opportunities of the local children in poverty. The member will assess the current stewardship/resource development plans and identify and recommend areas for improvement and growth. Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Assess current stewardship/resource development plans

  • Develop year end resources to sustain capacity building

  • Attend fundraising and networking events

  • Create a in-house system to process and record financial gifts

Required Skills:

  • Strong writing and communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • Marketing and development fundraising experience preferred

Time and Commitment:

  • Twelve months of full-time attendance

Site and Supervision:

Camp Fire Green Country and remote connection. This position reports to the Development Director of CFGC.

Volunteer Benefits:

  • VISTA members will receive a bi-weekly living allowance based on the poverty level in their area.

  • Upon successful completion of service, members are eligible to receive either the Segal AmeriCorps Education Award or the VISTA end-of-service cash stipend.

  • VISTA members who maintain health insurance during their service term may enroll in the AmeriCorps VISTA Healthcare Allowance. This allowance is a reimbursement program that covers out-of-pocket costs associated with healthcare.

  • Members who are approved to relocate more than 50 miles for service may receive a settling-in allowance. The mileage for relocation and close-of-service travel will be reimbursed.

  • Members who have children under the age of 13, may qualify for the VISTA program’s childcare benefit.

  • After completing service, non-competitive eligibility allows VISTA members who meet the minimum qualifications for a federal job to be hired by a federal agency without having to compete with the general public. Eligibility begins when a full-term VISTA service is completed.

The Resource Development Coordinator will benefit from considerable resource development skills, including but not limited to: networking, fundraising, resource planning, training and database management. This position is a terrific way to expand one's professional network and credentials for career advancement in the nonprofit sector.

vista outreach technology and systems specialist at community development support association (cdsa) - enid

Purpose and Impact:

This position will assist Community Development Support Association (CDSA) in Enid, Oklahoma in developing a sustainable community outreach system. The system will ensure community members receive services needed to break the cycle of poverty. The member will be researching and identifying unfriendly websites and issuing technical improvement recommendations. The member will develop a gift donation system to increase donor communication and retention. Tasks and Responsibilities:

  • Research and develop a software platform for a on-line outreach system

  • Develop a donor system through Giftworks software

  • Create a community-wide awareness program for early childhood developmental disabilities

  • Develop a system for referrals, early screenings and educational materials

  • Establish procedures to recruit and train volunteers as needed

Required Skills:

  • Strong analysis and communication skills

Preferred Skills:

  • System development and technology skills

Time and Commitment:

  • Twelve months of full-time attendance

Americorps vista development assistant at youth at heart (yah) - tulsa

Purpose and Impact:                                                     

Youth At Heart (YAH) in Tulsa, Oklahoma wants to ensure youth in Tulsa's economically under-resourced neighborhoods have access to opportunities that develop character, instill values, and equip youth for success. The member will develop a plan used to raise more funds for YAH by conducting prospective research on individuals, foundations and corporations in order to identify new donors and sources of funding.   • Evaluate current funding systems by analyzing annual giving campaigns
