AmeriCorps State Program Openings

The following are AmeriCorps State Program openings.  AmeriCorps State members in these programs serve full- or part-time terms at community partners across the state.  Members receive a living allowance during service and may be eligible for other in-service benefits depending on their term.  Upon completion of their term, members may be eligible to receive a education award to help pay qualifying education expenses or student loans.  Members must complete minimum service hour requirements in order to receive post-service benefits. 

Healthy Futures Oklahoma Program Openings

Red River’s Healthy Futures Oklahoma AmeriCorps Program aims to promote healthy eating habits and lifestyles to reduce food insecurity and fight adult and childhood obesity.

Nutrition Education Coordinator
Nutrition Education Coordinators will use the Cooking Matters curriculum and educational tools to implement hands-on nutrition courses and store tours to teach healthy eating, cooking and nutrition at host sites in communities across Oklahoma. See the full position description here.

Nutrition Support Coordinator
Nutrition Support Coordinators will engage in activities that improve access to food resources while supplementing the program’s nutrition education activities. Members will support enrollment in food assistance programs (SNAP, WIC, etc.), assist in food delivery at food pantries & farmers markets, and support community garden programs. Members will also help to supplement nutrition education activities by leading one-time/short-term food demonstrations and/or nutrition education sessions. See the full position description here.

Physical Activity Coordinator
Physical Activity Coordinators will utilize tools and resources from a wide range of initiatives including Oklahoma’s Shape Your Future and the Office of Disease Prevention and Health Promotion’s Move Your Way campaign to develop and implement physical activity programs in their communities that encourage healthy active lifestyles. Oklahoma Opportunities Program Openings

Red River’s Oklahoma Opportunities AmeriCorps program aims to improve educational attainment and employment opportunities in rural and/or under-resources communities across Oklahoma by helping local non-profits increase their ability to address unmet needs their communities.

Capacity Building Coordinator
Capacity Building Coordinators will engage in activities such as enhancing the scale/reach of existing programs, developing & implementing new programs/ curricula, recruiting, training & managing volunteers, and building legacy resources for organizations to use beyond the service term. Red River AmeriCorps VISTA Program Openings

The following are national service opportunities with Red River Community Corps' AmeriCorps VISTA program. AmeriCorps VISTA is a full-time, 12-month commitment to alleviate poverty. VISTA members receive a small living allowance and benefits during service. At the completion of the term, members are eligible to receive either an educational award or cash stipend as well as other end-term benefits. Learn more about serving with VISTA here.

 

Community Engagement and Resource Development VISTA at Food & Resource Center South Central Oklahoma (Ardmore)

The Community Engagement and Resource Development VISTA at the Food and Resource Center of South Central Oklahoma (FRCSCO) will help alleviate poverty related to food insecurity and build capacity of the organization by developing community resources to help our guests access services and build business/community volunteer groups to assist with the work of the FRCSCO. The mission of Opportunities Industrialization Center of Oklahoma County, Inc. (OIC) is to inspire and motivate adult learners through Academic and Career Education. YWCA Tulsa works to break cycles of poverty by addressing issues of racial and gender disparities in wellness, wealth and education. The VISTA Volunteer Coordinator will increase the capacity of YWCA Tulsa to increase opportunities for women, minorities and other individuals by helping to build a volunteer management and engagement program to include opportunities for engaging volunteers as mentors for minority youth, engaging current clients, and identifying new volunteer opportunities across all programs. Public Relations VISTA at Right Path Riding Academy (Drumright)

The Public Relations VISTA at Right Path Riding Academy will build the capacity by developing a sustainable fundraising plan to continue & grow its current programs: 1) ensure disabled children from impoverished areas receive the emotional/therapeutic support needed to have productive lives (therapeutic riding); 2) improve employment opportunities by combating low literacy among children living in poverty (literacy project); 3) eliminate barriers to moving teens out of poverty by giving them tools to deal with social/educational hurdles and helping them have a higher quality of life as adults; 4) give disabled veterans a new outlook on life & helping heal the effects of depression, strengthening veteran families and breaking the cycle of destruction (vets program).
