Engaging Oklahomans In the Fight Against Poverty

The Oklahoma In Action AmeriCorps program engages Oklahomans in the fight against poverty, the goal of the program is to increase services available to low-income families and adults.  Specifically, Oklahoma In Action partner agencies work to promote food security, employment and education opportunities, housing access, legal services and other direct services.  Member service activities include GED tutoring, English as a second language tutoring, job readiness training, job placement, food pantry management, nutrition education, client in-take, and volunteer recruitment and management. 

Individuals

In 2014 Oklahoma In Action placed 34 AmeriCorps members at non-profit agencies throughout the state. Members serving with the Oklahoma In Action program must have a passion for empowering individuals and a desire to serve their community.
