Become an AmeriCorps Member

Oklahoma Serves and Oklahoma In Action AmeriCorps programs have both full-time and half-time member positions.

Full-time members commit to serving 1700 hours over a 12-month period and receive a minimum living allowance of $14,000. Upon successful completion of their service full-time members earn an education award of $5,730.

Half-time members commit to serving 900 hours over a 9-12 month period and receive a minimum living allowance of $7,200. Upon successful completion of their service half-time members earn an education award of $2,685.

The Oklahoma Serves and Oklahoma In Action program year run from September 1 - August 31. Most AmeriCorps opportunities start on September 1. Positions are typically advertised beginning in mid-July. 

Eligibility

Oklahoma Serves and Oklahoma In Action AmeriCorps opportunities are open to anyone who:

  • Is over the age of 17 at the commencement of service
  • Is a US Citizen or Lawful Permanent Resident
  • Has a high-school diploma or equivalency, or agrees to complete one prior to using the education award.

Partner agencies may have additional service qualifications and requirements, which will be listed in the position description. All AmeriCorps positions are contingent upon the results of a state and national background check.
